IRENE BENNETTS – FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
Irene is an accomplished professional singer with over 38 years experience performing in various bands throughout Melbourne. For 20 years Irene has been involved in teaching students to sing and perform in both Primary and Secondary Schools. Her specialty is gathering large numbers to produce exciting mass vocal items.
In 2009 Irene decided to work with adults and established Sisters & Misters. The group now has 3 locations with well over 200 members
Irene’s enthusiasm and dedication enables her to take Sisters & Misters to a high level of performance that sees them not only perform at community events but also at prestigious corporate and festival gigs.
Irene is very proud of the community she has built with Sisters & Misters. Under her leadership the group not only connects with other members but also with the wider community.
Irene has also performed as a lead vocalist with the Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir and is still performing with her band Double Fantasy.
Irene commands audience attention with her vibrant personality and larger than life stage presence. Her ability to involve the audience whilst leading the group guarantees a great fun filled performance.
KAREN O’NEILL
Karen is one of Sisters & Misters original members.
Karen and Irene met while their children were attending the same primary school where Irene was assisting one of Karen’s children in the school Rock Band.
Karen became a singing student of Irene’s and was also member of the Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir. Karen joined Sisters and Misters on its very first night in 2009 and quickly was recognised by Irene as a natural leader with both the ability to instruct others, and a personality which welcomed members into the group.
Karen played an integral role if assisting Irene during the group’s
Australia’s Got Talent journey. Karen’s versatility allows her to teach both the melody and harmony lines and sees her as a most valued and popular member of our team.
LINDA THOMPSON
Linda grew up in county Victoria singing along to her Dad’s music and developed her love for group singing by being involved in the school choir and various musicals.
Many years later she moved to Melbourne and in 2011 spotted Sisters & Misters winning their way through to the semi-final of Australia’s Got Talent
Linda joined immediately and became an integral member of our high’s section.
As time evolved Irene saw a wonderful potential for Linda to develop into a member of her teaching team.
Linda, along with Karen, offers fantastic support for Irene achieving the unique vocal sound of Sisters & Misters.
